Morbid Angel is an American death metal band based in Tampa, Florida formed in 1983 by guitarist, lead songwriter and only remaining original member Trey Azagthoth, Dallas vocalist and bassist, Ward and drummer Mike Browning. Considered one of the most influential bands of the genre and important in death metal's transition from its thrash metal origins, they were one of the first to incorporate luscious vocals, climax beat, variable tempo and darkening l 'atmosphere. They have been described as one of the "most influential and modeled bands in death metal", along with Obituary, Death, Cynic, Aut autopsy and Deicide, and were considered to have the influence of many bands thereafter. . They were also the first death metal band to achieve success signing with Giant Records in 1992, filmed several of their music videos on MTV, and featured the music video for the song "God of Emptiness" in an episode of Beavis and Butthead.
