FILM executive Paul Davidson has revealed that he plans to revive a 1980s film that has amassed generations of fans.

The 1984 film Electric Dreams will be rebooted in the future, and fans of the original movie are upset about it.

Paul recently obtained the "remake rights" to Electric Dreams after he "struck a deal" with the flick's writer and producer Rusty Lemorande, Variety reported.

The news outlet explained that Rusty "retained the rights" to Electric Dreams after the movie was released, and has kept them for almost four decades.

Paul divulged in a statement why he chose to redo the cult film.

He admitted that Electric Dreams "left a deep imprint" on him the "first time he saw it.”

Paul continued: "Released in what is clearly one of the best decades for film ever, it remains a classic that feels especially prescient today.

"Joining forces with Brian and Rusty is immensely exciting.”

Rusty is also amped for his movie to be remade, especially since he'll be the executive producer of it.

"I’m glad this project is getting a new life. With all the recent A.I. developments, it’s time it’s remade," Rusty said in a statement.

EVOLVING WITH THE TIME

Additionally, singer P.P. Arnold, 77, a featured artist on Electric Dreams' original soundtrack, confessed her excitement with the movie being brought to the "modern age."

“The recent advances in and proliferation of artificial intelligence have made us all rethink our relationship to technology and what it truly means to be human," P.P. told Variety.

"This project is such a fun opportunity to explore how technology is rapidly changing the way we live, work, create, and even fall in love.

"Which is actually kind of existentially terrifying if you stop and think about it.”

LEAVE WELL ENOUGH ALONE!

In comparison, fans aren't as optimistic about the reboot as Paul, P.P., or Rusty.

Some fans have taken to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their disappointment with Electric Dreams being tampered with.

"Respectfully... why do we need a redo of Electric Dreams when we already have Her?," one fan tweeted.

A second person disclosed: "I remember this film as being truly weird but playing a ton on either the ‘Z’ Channel or HBO back in the day and having an effect on me."

Another cosigned, commenting a gif that read: "Blasphemer."

Someone else ranted: "Why can’t they leave it alone. It’s a lovely wee film that doesn’t need a remake. Love the tune too!"

Others desired that the original movie be released on DVD rather than be redone.

"Dare to dream of a Blu Ray release?," one fan inquired.

Another suggested: "What about just getting a good 4K / Blu-Ray release of the original?
